Hi Lreid617,
as you are traveling from France, have a look at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france, it explains you how to get the cheapest train ticket from Paris to Switzerland. Also please use the timetable at http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable (use the advanced one on the right side), to see the trains from Paris to Zermatt. You need to change at least 2 times, and it will take around 6-7 hours to get to Zermatt.

Paris – Zermatt is by Lyria TGV train and connecting SBB CFF (Swiss Federal Railways) to Visp and MGB (Matterhorn GotthardBahn) from Visp to Zermatt.
Lyria is the French-Swiss joint venture that operates the Paris – Switzerland TGV high speed trains.
There are three routes from Paris to Zermatt:
1) Paris – Genève TGV; Genève – Visp (via Lausanne) SBB CFF route IR 90 train (2 per hour); Visp – Zermatt MGB train (connect with all SBB main line trains at Visp)
2) Paris – Lausanne TGV; Lausanne – Visp – Zermatt as per (1)
2) Paris – Basel TGV; Basel – Visp SBB CFF route IC6 train (every 2 hours); Visp – Zermatt as per (1) and (2) above
