Hi Ginger 62,
Day passes allow unrestricted traveling throughout an entire day in several zones of the Mobilis network. So day passes are more expensive than the individual tickets which are meant for one specific journey only. And the more zones you can use, the more expensive a ticket gets. You can click the “plus” symbols displayed in your screenshot for more information, and consult the Mobilis information at the SBB website or at the Mobilis website itself (in French, but Google Translate might do a good job).
By the way, will you be using any of the Swiss rail passes? If so, the journey Montreux-Les Diablerets will be discounted or even for free. In the latter case you don’t need tickets at all. Please see myswissalps.com/swissr ailpasses and myswissalps.com/train/ ticketspasses/practica l/chooserailpass.

Your whole journey is within the Canton of Vaud, so is part of that canton’s Mobilis public transport tariff area. This is a big advantage for tourists because if you get a day pass you can use it to travel everywhere you wish within the zones you purchase for 24 hours.
