    Hello to everyone,

planning to buy my ticket to Bernina express. As I understood the bus doesn’t available in January. So I’m looking for a train. As I can see there is train from Milan to Tirano. But! Starting from December 12th there is no any trains. Any chance you know if they will appear closer to the dates? Will be pity to buy a ticket to Bernina express and do not be able to reach it.

    Thank you!

    Hi Rita Rita,

Yes, that is really a big concern. However I think there will be trains operating on that route (Milan – TIrano) on that day as it is part of a regular regional network. My guess is that the new train timetable (which starts mid Dec) has not been integrated into the system. The Swiss train timetable (https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable) sometimes have this issue too around the same time.

I recommend checking the timetable again. Or if you really need to be sure, you can contact Trenord Italy for clarification: http://www.trenord.it/en/assistenza/supporto/assistenzaonline/

    Regards,

    Anna

The annual railway timetable changes Europe-wide every year in mid December. This year the last day of the ‘2021’ timetable is 11 December and the first day of the ‘2022’ timetable is 12 December. Unfortunately the Italian railway companies are not as well organised as the Swiss in getting advanced timetable information into the public domain.

Thankfully, partly thanks to legendary German efficiency and partly because it was a student at a German University that created it in the first place (!), the German Railways have a Europe wide electronic timetable which normally has the information in it in advance:
