Most people travelling Paris – Switzerland now travel by high speed train:
There are several routes:
Paris – Geneva
Paris – Lausanne
Paris – Bern
Paris – Basel – Zürich

Hi Suheily-
Welcome to My Swiss Alps.
<<“i will be flying from Paris to Switzerland and i would like to know which airport will be my best option to arrive. i am looking to stay either in Bern or Lucerne. i was looking at the airports in Basel and Zurich. will i be able to ride the train/buss from one of those Airports to any destination?”>>
Yes.
Zürich is usually a better option, unless you have plans in the Northeast of Switzerland..
I’d travel by train, myself.

November is in between seasons for many tourist activities.
Did you have specific plans for certain sights or regions?

Hi Suheily,
You can use the Swiss railways timetable to find your transport options from the airport to other destinations – see what works best for you: https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable

Hello Suheilv,
I second 1960man’s advice: take the train from Paris to Switzerland. It’s more comfortable, quicker and probably cheaper. Also you can pick the shortest routes to your final destination in that case. No need to go through Zurich, for example.

Lucas gave you the answer already. It works for other countries, too.
More than likely, the train stops at Bern on the way to Zürich.

Don’t forget to add in time to travel to/from airports. And, if your destination is Bern, you have travel time from Zrich to Bern. Maybe there is service at Bern-Belp airport….?

Plane vs. train between Paris and Basel is very similar when you take into account travel to/from the airport as well as arriving early for airport check in etc. etc. 🙂

makes sense. Thanks Lucas. just trying to find my way around as a first time visitor.

Of course. no worries.
I don’t start thinking about flying until train trips get longer than 5 hours or so.

Hi Suheilv,
The link I gave you earlier explains all about the train trip: how long it takes, where to buy tickets, etc. It’s the preferred mode of travel for trips like that, and eco-friendly as well. Book early for the best prices (as low as €29 sometimes).
