Hi, I am travelling with my family on 28th May from Paris to Zermatt. I have booked my train ticket from Paris to Lausanne via TGV. Now because of the French Rail Strike, there is no guarantee that my train will run on that day. The 28th May is marked as the striking day on SNCF web site. I have few questions: 1. I need to reach Zermatt on 28th May. If I travel by air, which airport will be nearest. Bus is taking a lot of time 2. I booked my train ticket online from SBB site. How should I proceed for refund? Can I get refund online? 3. Can I rent a car in Paris to travel to Zermatt and leave the car in Zermatt? Thanks – Sachin

    Hi Sachin,

    1. You’d fly Paris to Zurich or Geneva and then train to Zermatt. They are both about 3-3.5 hours by train to Zermatt.
    2. SBB may or may not refund your ticket as some trains are leaving and some are not. I would contact them to inquire. I’d guess they will do it but on a case-by-case basis. There is an online contact form on https://www.sbb.ch/en/ timetable/rail-traffic-information.html
    3. Yes you can. But the drive is quite long and the one-way drop charge they would give you would be expensive I’m sure. Please see this page.
