    Hello,

Me and my wife are traveling to Switzerland in 2 weeks. We both will have 1 small and 1 full size luggage with us. We would really appreciate if someone can please help us.

    1. How convenient is it to travel with luggage from Zurich airport to Grindelwald by train? We have a hotel booking really close to Grindelwald train station.

    2. Can we get a taxi/shuttle if that’s easier but not super expensive?

    3. Our plan is to go to Grindelwald and enjoy snow sports, hiking etc. Should we be getting swiss travel pass? Also, we are planning to rent all ski stuff including jackets and everything, do they have lots of places over there?

    Thank you so much.

Hello DreamSwiss and welcome to myswissalps

Nice to hear that you’re planning a visit to Switzerland.

    1. Travelling by train from Zurich airport to Grindelwald means about 3 hours train journey and two or three times changing trains.

    Find details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

For details about other means of transportation from Zurich Airport look here: http://www.myswissalps.com/ai rports/zurich

    2. I assume a taxi/shuttle from Zurich to Grindelwald will be quite expensive, as it’s quite a distance.

    3. Grindelwald is a lovely village and offers a variety of activities, have a look here: http://www.myswissalps.com/gr indelwald

There are enough places to rent skiing equipment in Grindelwald, no problem.

Regarding the Swiss Travel Pass it very much depends on what else you plan on doing during your stay. To find out which of the available ticket options suits you best use this link: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

Thank you so much Steph for the valuable information!

We are fine with the train ride. Our main concern is if carrying 1 big and 1 small luggage per person is fine on the train. Do the train have enough room? Where can we put our luggage without disturbing other passengers on the train?

More importantly, we are worried about changing trains, what if we miss one connecting train because of us being slow carrying the luggage around?

    We really appreciate your help!

    Dear DreamSwiss,

The trains in Switzerland normally have a luggage section per carriage as well as overhead compartments providing enough space to travel with the luggage you mention without disturbing other passengers.

Normally you will find ramps and/or elevators at Swiss train stations to help you change platform (if needed), so it should not be an issue.

The Swiss train system is very practical and efficient, so if you miss a train you simply take the next one.

Hope this is helping you to plan your arrival well.

    Best,

    Steph
