Hi

We are parents of a 1 year old trying to plan a trip with a stopover in Zurich (US-India). Wondering if people can suggest if it is ok to travel with the one year old in the cold winter in Zurich. Also, as we are looking to stay for 3 days what are the itinerary recommendations from the forum members. We generally like outdoors and exploring nature (not much into skiing). We love hiking as well but haven’t done it in the winters and that too with a year old.

Any and all recommendations and suggestions are deeply appreciated. Thank you forum members in advance.

Swiss babies always seemed fine so yours should be ok. It is all about clothing. 🙂

Are you booked in Zurich for all 3 nights already? If you want the outdoors and mountains I’d stay somewhere like St. Moritz, Wengen or Zermatt. If you are just in the country for 3 days stick to 1 location and explore the nearby area.

you and your baby will be fine if you put on clothes on according to the weather. See this for details concerning the weather in Switzerland: http://www.myswissalps.com/we ather.

The top 3 places of the first time visitors are usually the Jungfrau region, Lake Lucerne area and Zermatt (Matterhorn). I do not suggest to visit all 3 regions in such a short time, but have a look at them, to get some ideas:

In addition to that be aware that under 2 years old high altitude is not always recommended, before visiting areas over 2500 m, you’d better consult your doctor.
