We are 2 adults and 2 children

We will be travelling from Zurich airport to Wengen for skiing at the end of February, this will be the only travelling we will do, and it will be on specific dates

Can someone tell me the cheapest way to do this

    Regards

    Chris

    Hello Chris,

Most likely the Saver Day Pass is your best bet. Prices increase closer to travel time. Depending on the age of your children they may be best using the Junior Travelcard.

I presume you will return to Zurich after your skiing holiday so you will need a Saver Day Pass for each day but the Junior Travel Card lasts one year.

If you use the SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi) for checking train timetables, finding fares and buying tickets on-line it will show you the price of a Saver Day Pass for comparison.

    Hi Chris,

I agree with rockoyster. If your plan requires only taking the train from Zurich Airport to Wengen and back, I would recommend getting the Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/saverdaypass/price). The sooner you book them, the lower the price. You’ll find a list of online resellers from the link provided, including the The Switzerland Travel Centre, which is the SBB tourist webshop.

If your kids are below 6 years old, they don’t need any tickets to travel on the train with you. Kids aged between 6 and 15 travel free with you if they have a Junior Travel Card.(http://www.myswissalps.com/juniortravelcard)

More information about discounts and promotions when travelling by trains are availabe from this link: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/discounts

You might also find this link useful for your stay in Wengen: http://www.myswissalps.com/wengen

    Hi Chriswhite64,

There is currently an offer in the Jungfrau ski region that allows up to 3 children (6 to 15 years old) to ski for free on Saturday when a parent buys a one day or an afternoon skipass at full price. The offer is available online as well as at the railway stations.

If you book your skipass early, you could also be entitled to a 20% discount subject to a few conditions. These are explained on the official Jungfrau website: http://www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/jungfrau-ski-region/earlybird-skipass/

I would highly recommend getting your skipass online or in advance to skip the queues at the ticket counter. If you’re skiing for more than 1 day, most ski resorts offer 2- to 3-days skipass or even weekly or seasonal pass that are reasonably priced.

    Regards,

    Anna
