I’m at the beginning stages of planning a Sept 2020 11 night trip to Switzerland. I’m planning on 4 nights with Wengen as a base (also 3 nights in Lucerne, 3 nights in Montreux, 1 night in Zurich). So far on the list of things to do in the Wengen area is:
Wengen to Lauterbrunnen to Schilthorn to Stechelberg, walk to Trumellbach Falls, walk to Lauterbrunnen to see Staubbach Falls then back to Wengen.
We are also considering going to Grindelwald First and possibly walking to Bachalpsee Lake (we’re also hoping to see Mt. Pilatus & Glacier 3000 during our time in Switzerland).
I’m also looking at the Mannlichen to Klein Scheidegg hike while in the Wengen area.
Should we add Grindelwald Glacier canyon? Should we add that instead of the Bachalpsee lake hike?

this is a very good question. I love these kinds of canyons, so I would not miss the Grindelwald Glacier canyon (https://www.viator.com /tours/Grindelwald/Gla cier-Canyon-Grindelwald) . But the Bachalpsee hike is beautiful too (http://www.myswissalps.com/hi king/bachsee). It depends actually just on you, which one you prefer. As you will do other hikes in the area, maybe the Canyon is better for your itinerary. But go to Grindelwald First for sure, as the First Cliff Walk by Tissot is great if you are not afraid of heights.
