Asking if anyone else having trouble buying SuperSaver tickets on SBB website. Been trying most of today to buy SuperSaver ticket Luzern-Zurich Flughafen for Feb 4th, get to the pay page and it says “There is an error” but it does not say what the error is. Used exact same detail to buy all rail tickets for previous 16 days rail travel in Switzerland. Tried both Chrome and Firefox same result “There is an error”.

Probably undergoing maintenance or something. Have you tried the SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi)?

    Hi Tonyw,

I tried to do it now and it works for me, I could buy it. Maybe it works now and there was just maintenance as Rockoyster mentioned. If you still cannot buy the tickets, where pops up the error message? At which stage?

You can try to buy your point to point tickets via these resellers too: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland/price.

You could also try the resellers Ildiko linked to. The do Supersaver fares as well if available.

try to buy mobile but it asks for 2 addresses, sadly here down under we generally just have 1 residence with 1 address, if you dont provide 2 addresses you cant register. Guess ill just have to use Swiss Half Fare Card and buy at station

I don’t have two addresses in Australia and I don’t recall having that problem with the app. But then I just used the same account as I had set up on the website so tickets globally accessible on-line.

Have you tried the reseller link?

I did try the other trainline, omio but the prices were about 5 times the cost of a ss ticket on line SBB, (when you can buy them LOL), I cant understand how people could buy from resellers with the outrageous hikes they put on SBB prices.

    Gee, that’s a bit harsh Tony. 🤓

HappyRail will sell you a ticket on the direct 10:35 for CHF 15 compared to a CHF 9 Supersaver fare or a CHF 15 half-fare available from SBB.

If you read the fine print (attached), HR are in fact charging CHF15 for a Supersaver ticket and pocketing CHF6 for their troubles; a nice little earner Tel. They have to eat I guess. 😉

Actually I take it all back. I have defamed HappyRail. There CHF15 Supersaver is the exact same price as an SBB Supersaver without a Half-fare card. CHF9 is the Supersaver fare with a half-fare card. Too many permutations! Humble apologies HR . . . . crawls under rock. 😬😖

Now if only I could figure out how to tell HR I have a Swiss Half-fare Card (hypothetically).

    Hi Rockoyster and Tonyw,

I have attached the screenshots, where and how you can select the Swiss Half Fare Card option at http://www.happyrail.com

The resellers work usually with similar prices than SBB. And it already happened a few times with me, that HappyRail has been cheaper than SBB. If you want to buy a rail pass, you can find the official SBB online shop too among the resellers (http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price).

I am glad that finally you could manage to buy the SuperSaver tickets. Be careful and do not miss the train.

I wish you a wonderful holiday and lovely weather in Austria and Switzerland.

Aah thanks Ildiko. I missed that. But then the chances of me using HappyRail instead of SBB direct are close to zero even though their prices are identical.

As you may have guessed I’m a dedicated SBB app kind of guy. 😇

Yes, I know that. 🙂 The choice is yours. I am just saying that I always check HappyRail too, as sometimes they are cheaper than SBB.

Anyway, thank you for your posts and answers not just here but on all the other threads too.

See attached. They must have it in for you. 😂

For 60c each you could have avoided the change at Zurich HB!

Hi Tonyw, I’ve checked and for me it is not 22 CHF, but around 9 CHF. I cannot see what you have seen. Maybe what you have seen they aren’t the SuperSaver tickets.

It is up to you, where you buy your tickets. I wish you a nice trip.
