Hi there, I am travelling with my family this Dec 2022 to Switzerland and we have purchased a 15-Day Swiss Travel Pass (2nd Class) for us. I plan to take the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St.Moritz on the 15Dec and I know that I have to reserve the seats. However, there are only 1st Class seats left for seats reservation.

Question: How am I able to pre-book a 1st Class upgrade for this particular ride only, so that I can reserve the 1st class seats for my family? Do I reserve the seats (1st class) on glacier express first – > followed by purchasing the point-to-point upgrade on the SBB webpage, or vice-versa?

Seeking for some advice on my current situation! Thank you in advance 😀

Hi Shaun Koh and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!

if you would like to travel by the Glacier Express 1st class, you have to have 1st class seat reservation + 1st class ticket OR rail pass. So you have to upgrade your Swiss Travel Pass for 1st class for that day or that route. You can read about this here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/2nd1stclass.

You can reserve your seats here: http://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/tickets.

It doesn’t matter which one you book first, the seats or the upgrade. The point is that at the time of your travel you have to have both.
