Hi Eileen and welcome to MySwissAlps!
Always nice to chat to another Canadian. Where are you from in Canada?
Taking a train to Interlaken is close to 3 hours on a regular Intercity train via Bern.
Another option for you is to train to Montreux and take the very scenic Golden Pass train to Interlaken. Take a look at that link for further details.
As for the Regional Pass – Lake Geneva to the Alps, take a look at our page here for further details, including where it is valid (there’s a tab for ‘where it is valid’).
For example you can take the train to Montreux from Geneva, then board the Golden Pass where the ride would be free to Zweisimmen (depending on which which pass you purchase – there are several different in duration that are explained on the page above) and then 50% off for the rest of the route to Interlaken.
I hope that helps, let me know if you have more questions!
Regards,
Lucas

Hi Lucas,
Thank you for the information! We are all students in Kingston, Ontario, but are from all over Canada originally.
I have a couple of other questions that I was hoping you could help with. How many days are “free days” and how many days are “discounted days” with the pass? Additionally, do you know the approximate cost of the train from Zweisimmen from Interlaken?

Hi Eileen,
The options for free versus discounted days are explained on the last page Lucas linked to. A single ticket from Zweisimmen to Interlaken Ost costs CHF 28, or CHF 14 with the pass you are considering.
Note that the pass does not include anything beyond Interlaken (see the pass map), so things might get pretty expensive if you plan to stay there for 2 days. A Switzerland wide pass would make sense in that case.
Please see here for how to compare passes and find ticket prices:
