    Hi Folks,

    I just chanced upon http://www.ticino.ch/en/ticke t.html.

I will be staying at a Hotel in Lugano for 5 nights late May so am hoping I will get issued with one of these tickets for free.

My question is can I use it to take local trains to do trips to Lucarno and Chiasso (on way to Como) for free? In fact can I use it on all routes covered by Arcobaleno shown here http://www.arcobaleno.ch/cont ent/2-chi-siamo/2-le-zone-arcobaleno/biglietti.p df ?

I will have a STP(Flex) but it would be great if I could avoid using up days and use the Ticino Ticket instead.

Do I use the TT just like a STP? ie can I just hop on trains and buses without buying any other tickets? I understand that cable cars and boat trips will need a separate discounted ticket to be purchased.

I don’t suppose there is something similar in Luzern is there? 😉

    Hi Rockoyster,

Yes, it web page indicates it covers all public transport in the canon of Ticino (search Ticino on google maps and it will show you an outline of the canton/province of Ticino).

From what I understand you use it just like the Swiss Travel Pass yes. I’m sure the hotel will tell you how to use it when they issue it to you.

There is a FAQ page listed on your first link that talks about the arcobaleno region with the Ticino ticket that should answer your question.

I’ve only heard of the Lake Luzern visitors card (http://www.luzern.com/en/fest ivals-events/visitors-card) but not a bus/train pass for the region. In past years I’ve seen free 2 day Winter-Tell passes given out at hotels as a short-term promotion.
