    Hi,

I’m planning to go to the Interlaken region in September.
Someone (forgot who it was) once told me about a very nice viewpoint near Wengen (?). If I remember well it was called Grymsbiel. But a Google search gave no results. Am I wrong about the name?

Would be nice if someone can tell me what and where this viewpoint is.

    Thanks!

Dear Krister Johanson, I think the viewing point you mean is Girmschbiel. This is a small hill, just west of the railway station of Wengernalp (on the train route between Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg). It can be reached by a simple foot path from Wengernalp, which first crosses the railway by a small tunnel. The path gradually vanishes, until you mount the small hill passing green meadows. You will end up at the top of the hill with trees on one hand and meadows on the other. It offers wonderful views of large parts of the Jungfrau region, and it’s entirely for free! Some pictures can be found at our Bernese Oberland picture page (look for ‘Wengernalp’).

    Hello Krister,
Girmschbiel is not a tourist attraction in the usual sense. But the magnificent views from there may even be worth a little mud on your shoes. Going there is just a small hike which can easily be fitted in your other plans for the day. A Google search for Girmschbiel will give you further information.
Good luck with your holiday preparations.
