My husband and I are planning to travel to Switzerland June 2018. We are planning on buying the 1st Class Swiss Travel Pass. Do we need to still have VIP Seat Reservations for the Golden Pass and do we need to book these reservations. Thanks for you help.

Hi dgeen and welcome to MySwissAlps!

You are planning ahead! Good to see – Technically you don’t need to make seat reservations on the panoramic trains running the Golden Pass route.

There are 2nd class seats, 1st class seats and 8 VIP seats per train. If you want to ensure you are sitting in the 8 VIP seats it is well worth the reservation fee to reserve them.
You will find a link here to make the reservations (bottom of the page) but you will have to wait until early next year to make those reservations.

Thank you. Starting early as I am trying to do this myself with the 7 day itinerary on the site but this is difficult and time consuming.

Ah the 7 day ultimate Swiss scenic train tour here? That’s a nice option!

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask us (especially if you change the itinerary up a bit). We are happy to help (and you have lots of time so no need to worry) 🙂
