    Hi!

I want to visit the wine region around Lausanne. I am visiting CERN on 28th October and can start at 2 PM from Geneva to Lausanne. I will be going to Zurich onwards. Can anyone please guide me about my best options to see the beautiful wine region around Lausanne? I have Swiss pass.

I was thinking of the following plan –

    1. Geneva to St-Saphorin by train via Lausanne
    2. Take walk from St-Saphorin to Vinorama (or someplace similar)
    3. Walk from Vinorama to Rivaz and take a train to Zurich via Lausanne

Am I planning it right? I read that sun sets early in the last week of October. That is a bit of a concern for me. I am ok to reach to Zurich a little late in night. My hotel is near Zurich Airport. What is the best way to do this.

    Pls guide me. Thanks!!

    Hello coolguns,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps!

Your plans to walk and see the wine regions in Lausanne looks doable.

    1. Geneva to St-Saphorin by train via Lausanne The train ride is approximately 45 mins.

    2. Take walk from St-Saphorin to Vinorama (or someplace similar) The walk is approximately 20 minute walk and is 1.5 km

    3. Walk from Vinorama to Rivaz is about a 13 minute walk and 800 metres.

Take a train to Zurich via Lausanne. The train ride from Lausanne to Zurich is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.

The sun will set around 17:15 on October 28th, 2019. I will attach the Swiss time table to help you catch your trains on time:

Bring an umbrella/rain jacket, they forecast rain on and off for most of next week. I hope that helps!

    Happy travels,

    Suzanne
