Just wondering if anyone has ascended Pilatus, Schilthorn, or Titlis recently. The webcams have shown them to be completely fogged in every day. Planning to go up in a few weeks but doesn’t seem worth it if there is no visibility. If you have been there recently, please confirm what the weather was. Thanks.

The weather at the top of those mountains can be quite changeable. It is hard to predict precisely what the situation will be until the day you plan to visit. It seems extremely unlikely that they would all be continuously fogged in during summer.

If you have found the webcams then you also know how to find the weather forecasts. Keep an eye on them.

    Hello Katzeye,

I agree that there’s no need to be worried just because there’s a bad spell of weather at the moment. Of course, this can always happen, the weather is more and more unpredictable, but you won’t change it by worrying.

Just keep an eye on the weather, my personal favourite is the MeteoSWISS app which you’ll find in this link:
    http://www.myswissalps.com/ab outswitzerland/practic al/websites

Only the peak of Mount Pilatus is available on that app (Pilatus KULM), for the other destinations I choose a close by village (e.g. Engelberg for Mount Titlis), as the weather is normally similar in the entire area.

For more input on the mountains you mention use:

Best and get back to us anytime for further support.

I have checked live cam of particular mountain top at the day of excursions. My apartment lady owner was very helpful and I took excursions only if she told that it is clean weather

    Hi Katzeye,

We went up to Schilthorn on a cloudy day and only got limited views, but great views from Birg, the station beneath. Went up Mannlichen on a cloudy stormy day, again the cloud was swirling around, so limited views, but hardly anyone there, and sitting watching the storm come in was amazing, this just added to the wildness of the landscape, and ended up being one of our favourite days, even though it was pouring rain by the time we went back down to Wengen. A huge clap of thunder was the loudest thing we’ve ever heard, and it reverberated around the mountains for about 3 minutes.

We did change our plans sometimes due to cloud in the mountains, but the weather changes rapidly, even in a few hours, so don’t let it totally put you off visiting certain areas. The journey there is also a big part of the fun!
