    Hello,

We are traveling to Switzerland on September 20th. We will be staying in Wengen for 5 nights and Zermatt for 3 nights. We are planning to do some long day hikes and a trip to Jungfraujoch. Weather seems to be quite variable at this time of year, but what are the typical daily highs and lows in late September? Should we plan to bring down jackets, or will a few layers suffice? Are thunderstorms typically an issue for long hikes this time of year?

Thanks for any info/tips you can provide!

Hi Mkomlos and welcome to MySwissAlps!

In the towns themselves the weather would be quite chilly at night in late September. During the day it can be quite nice still but you won’t know until closer to your arrival date.

If you are spending time up in the higher altitudes in these areas to hike, I would be prepared for very cold temperatures. It is -1 Celsius on Jungfraujoch today! 🙂
