Hello friends, I am first time traveling to Zurich in first week of October. Would be grateful to get an insight into well connected travel destination from Zurich for 5 days trip. I am more interest in mountains, lakes, valley, water fall etc rather than museum or water sport. Also need assistant on how can i cover these places by rail and where i need to take shelter if budget is limited.

Many thanks in advance for your response…

Hi Debashree, and welcome to MySwissAlps!

It’s not clear to me whether you intend to stay in Zürich for the whole 5 days and do day trips, or whether you can stay elsewhere to reduce travel times to places of interest, so I will assume you can stay anywhere: in which case I would consider spending half your time in Lucern/Luzern and half your time in the Jungfrau Region (mountain villages of Grindelwald, Wengen, Mürren, Lauterbrunnen). You could also stay in Interlaken, but it’s much less scenic than the mountain villages.

The Swiss Travel System of trains, buses, boats and cable cars is very dense, and services are well coordinated, frequent and reliable, so it will be very easy to get around.
