hello!

We will be in the Jungfrau region in the second week of July. I came across on the Jungfrau website that the Wengen-Männlichen cable car in under construction. I was just wondering if the old cable car is still functional? is this a new line that is being added? Because if the cable car is not functional, then I will have to change my itinerary. Thank you.

The aierial cableway Wengen-Männlichen is in operation daily until the end of October 2018.

While the Wengen-Männlichen cable car was closed for maintenance between 3 Apr-31 May 2018, they replaced the old cable car with a new one, which has an outdoor balcony on top of it. There is a CHF 5 surcharge to travel on the balcony.

On the other side of Männlichen, the Grindelwald Grund to Männlichen gondola cabins are going to be replaced, together with completely new infrastructure (pylons, cables, buildings etc). Construction is commencing in summer 2018, but the operation of the gondola will not be affected until summer 2019.

So the Grindelwald Grund to Männlichen gondola will run as usual for the summer season 2018 and the winter season 2018-19 (probably until 31 Mar 2019). Then it will close for the whole summer season 2019 so that the necessary works can be completed to enable the new 10-seat gondola to begin service in December 2019.
