    Hi everyone, Good Day!

First of all I’m sorry if we got this doubled. I clicked on submit button and its back to square 1. So, here we go again.

We will go to Switzerland from Amsterdam from March 22nd – 24th (Friday – Sunday). We’ve been doing research for months and fell in love with the beauty of Wengen. So, we have decided to stay in Wengen and from there we will do the Titlis excursion on Saturday 🙂

    1) Do you guys think that our plan its doable? On the first day, we probably will just stroll around Wengen – Lauterbrunnen – Grindelwald area. Second day to Titlis and maybe just stroll around Lake Lucerne and 3rd day fly or by train to Paris.

    2) Should we use Zurich or Geneva airport instead from Amsterdam and to Paris?

    3) Would you guys choose Engelberg as base over Wengen ?

Really appreciate your expertise on this guys. Thanks !

    Mazza & Rita

    Hi Mazza & Rita,

If your main focus is to visit Titlis (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis) I’d stay in Engelberg or Luzern (http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne).

For such a short trip I would stay in just one location. My preference would be Wengen over Engelberg and then I would explore the Jungfrau region and not bother with Titlis at all. http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrauregion/activitie s

I’d take a train back to Paris. You can take direct trains from Basel. Look for tickets here: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france/pric e

Thanks for the reply and opinion Lucas. But may I know, is it still doable to do so? I dont mind going back and forth just to enjoy the view. I understand that Jungfrau has a lot of nice attractions but most of it with extra charges. At least if we go to Titlis, we just pay for the cable car ride and still can enjoy the snow park. I’ve been watching many video on Jungfraujoch but for me, for what we pay, we can only see the view and a very tiny top. Plus, I also read that Titlis is operating till night time on the date that I’m planning to go.

Just FYI, we will take the Swiss half pass for this too. And bringing along our son age 3. I understand the return journey should be around 8 hrs?

What do you think? Or if we were to spend the night at Engelberg, will there be same amount of snow there? Or maybe stay somewhere in between? Help me 🙂

    Thanks again 🙂

    Hi,

I’m not aware of any extra charges at Jungfraujoch. Usually there aren’t extra charges once at the top but there are exceptions for some activities on some mountains.

You can use the Swiss railways timetable to plan out the trips you plan to take. You can decide if you are fine with traveling to Titlis from Wengen for example – certainly it is doable. http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

Is there the same amount of snow at Engelberg Wengen? Both towns could have snow (or none) when you are there. Deciding on where to stay really comes down to how much travel you want to do each day. There are too many places to list here on where you could stay.

If you want to see the Jungfrau Region as well as visit Titlis (and you want to be higher up in elevation where you might get some snow) I’d stay in Wengen. http://www.myswissalps.com/we ngen

If you’ve looked at the Swiss Half Fare Card and found it will save you money, you can buy it online here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard/price

It’s more convenient to buy it online. It can be emailed to you and printed at home (saving you time at the airport train station and giving you a copy to print out again in case you lose your pass)

    Hi

Wengen, Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen aren’t really within strolling distance of each other, you need to take the train, or spend at least several hours hiking between villages. Personally, I’d rather stay in Wengen, do the Junfraujoch and go explore the towns. I think that would be a good use of your time otherwise you’ll spend a large chunk of your Swiss adventure sitting in trains.

    Have fun

    Alan

Thank you so much Lucas. You’ve been helping us a lot 🙂 .

And thanks also to Alan for your opinion. Really appreciate that. Just would like to know, whether in mid March, if we’d stay in Wengen, will we be able to maybe do sledging or snow tubing in the town (Wengen) itself without going up to the Jungfraujoch? Will the snow be thick on that particular month in Wengen?

    Mazza & Rita 🙂

I don’t think anyone can say how much snow will be on the ground in Wengen this year. Fingers crossed you’ll have some.

Most sledding options are higher up though. Grindelwald has a good one: http://www.grindelwaldbus.ch/ en/sledging
