You will always have to pay something first to get a rail pass, in addition to the actual ticket for the trip you want to make.

Rail passes give the most value if you are going to use them for several days of excursions n different routes. You might not save any money if you only want to do one or two specific excursions.

Remember that if you have a car available, the closest you can drive to is as follows:

    Jungfrau – park at Grindelwald

    Schilthorn – park at Stechelberg

    Hi Rodrufener,

Yes, it will depend on which exact trips you will make in Switzerland by train, cable car and for how many days.

Have a look at our page here on how to choose the best rail pass for help: https://www.myswissalp s.com/train/ticketspas ses/practical/choosera ilpass

If you do both those mountains at least and possibly more, then I’d look at the Swiss Travel Pass (3 days, but Schilthorn is free) or the Swiss Half Fare Card. If your train/cable car travel is only going to be in the Jungfrau region, look at the Jungfrau Travel Pass also.
