Hello there. We are a family of three and supposed to arrive in Zurich 10 am today but missed our flight out of Dublin due to flight delay from Toronto. Now looking at the weather, today was the best day but missed it. Looks like cold and rain rest of the week. We will be in Lucerne full day Tues. 03/07, moving to Wengen 04/07- 06/07. Heading to Zurich late on Fri. 06/07 for our flight to Italy Sat. Thiis is our 1st trip to Switzerland and wanted to do sightseeing of the areas we planned to go. But now with the weather cold/ rain what can you suggest for us to do in these areas? All the mountain sceneries we wanted to go to will not give us any great view. Hotels can’t be cancelled anymore. Suggestions are much appreciated.

    Hi Mide,

I’m sorry to hear you missed your flight and a good weather day! Please see http://www.myswissalps.com/we ather/forecast for the forecasts. July 3 in Lucerne doesn’t look that bad. July 4 looks very nice. July 5 seems rainy but it’s too far ahead of time to worry about that. Don’t look further than 2-3 days out. Even then the forecasts may change several times. Be flexible and use the sunny hours to the max. That’s the normal way of trip planning in the Alps, although weeks of sunny days only are not unheard of.

Please check http://www.myswissalps.com/we ngen for bad weather activities when based in Wengen.

In most cases the best way to reach Italy from Switzerland is by train (quicker or as quick, more scenic, greener). But I assume flights are booked so that’s for a future visit 🙂 http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy

    Enjoy your stay!
