>> We will be staying in Engelberg on 10-14 Dec. We are hoping to get on this ride at Lungern on the second or third day of our stay… Would this train still be operating in Dec?
Yes, that video is taken from the Luzern-Interlaken Express, which is part of the Golden Pass route between Luzern and Interlaken Ost. It runs all year, hourly throughout the day, 7 days per week, and the trip takes 1 hour 55 minutes.
>> And how far is this place from Engelberg?
Luzern, from where you catch the Luzern-Interlaken Express, is 48 minutes by train from Engelberg.
You can use the Swiss Timetable to plan this trip:

By the way, the video is shot travelling in the direction Interlaken Ost to Luzern, and it would not have been shot in December.
I did that trip in December last year. As it was winter, the grass was brownish-green rather than bright green, it was very foggy, and there were substantial patches of heavy frost on the ground at the higher altitudes (climbing up to Brünig-Hasliberg). The valleys were hidden under the cloud deck as we climbed higher. It was still a wonderful trip, but in December it won’t look quite as pretty as in the video: unless there is a good cover of snow, when everything looks pretty, especially if the sky is also blue!

Thank you for the explanation. May I also know if a trip to Staubbach falls in Dec is suitable too. Not really entering the waterfall but just to explore the little village at Lauterbrunnen while admiting Satubbach falls from outside.

Hi cloudcatcher,
The Staubbachfall consists of melting water. There won’t be much of that in December, so the falls won’t be spectacular. Lauterbrunnen and its valley are still very scenic though if skies are clear. Other suggestions for the Jungfrau region are listed here.
