We are coming to Murren from Zurich in January 2019. Staying in Murren for five days. After that we are going to travel by rail for three days. Do I buy the Swiss rail ticket for eight days? or can I buy an one day pass and then a three day pass after my stay at Murren? which is the best?

    Kind regards

    Bill Skinner (South Africa)

HI Bill and welcome to MySwissAlps!

If you are looking at a Swiss Travel Pass (covers most of the country) then you can look at either the 8 day Swiss Travel Pass or the 4 day Swiss Travel Pass Flex (non-consecutive days).

If you are staying in Murren and skiing then the STP Flex may be the best option. If you are planning on traveling a bit in those 5 days from Murren by train or other, the 8 day STP isn’t too much more expensive and may save you money in the end.

To know which rail pass is best you need to first plan out your daily itinerary then you can compare costs:

    Thanx Lucas

My idea is now to get to Switzerland earlier–get a 8-day pass and then fly back to SA from Zurich on the last day. Before I get to Murren I can travel a little and the last five days of the pass I can do things at Murren.

    Kind regards

    Bill

    That can work then!

The Swiss Travel Pass is always the most convenient option and often the most economical as well.

You can buy the Swiss Travel Pass online as well. It can be emailed to you and printed at home (saving you time at the airport and giving you a copy to print out again in case you lose your pass). https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ price
