Hello dear friends, hope I find you all safe!

Switzerland is calling again and I've already booked my flights for a 7 days trip in Bernese Oberland late February 2022. I'll be coming with my wife from Corfu, Greece and the main goal of this dream trip is to relax in cosy villages, do some winter landscape photography and some easy snow hikes and walks. I'm thinking of spliting the trip in two parts.

Firstly, we've decided to spend 4 days in Wengen, in order to enjoy some snow (since in Greece it's really rare) and visit some of the well known highlights in the region such as Mürren, Lauterbrunnen, etc.

Now we're searching for a base for the last 3 days of our stay. We've done a lot of research, but there are so many options that we've been confused! 😊 Lötschental for example seems a good option, but I would like to hear some suggestions or tips from experienced locals and members of this community.

Thank you very much for your time!

Mario

Hi Mario,

Lötschental is definitely a good option if you're looking for a cozy village with lots of snow. In addition to spectacular views, the valley is well known for its unique carnival called Tschäggättä, usually held sometime in February, so you might want to check it out too. Some sightseeing ideas when you are in the Valais region: www.myswissalps.com/valais

Hope that helps!

Anna

Thank you very much for replying Anna! Finally I decided to base myself in Grimentz, I think it's going to be great as well.

Regards,

Marios

Hi Marios,

Grimentz will be great for your trip, it is a lovely and typical village of the region. You can find accommodation here: https://www.hotelscombined.com/Place/Grimentz.htm.

Regarding the Jungfrau region, if you need some information have a look at www.myswissalps.com/jungfrauregion/activities. You'll find hotels and rental opportunities in Wengen at www.myswissalps.com/wengen/hotels and www.myswissalps.com/wengen/rentals.

Take care,

Ildiko

Hello Mario,

Have you visited Aletsch Arena area before? Bettmeralp would be lovely for a 3-days stay, small and lovely snow capped village and stunning views of the Aletsch glacier which you can also hike. Wherever you end up going I hope you have the greatest fun!

Regards

Li

Hey Li!

Thanks for the great suggestion! I've never been there and after doing a little research, I think that Bettmeralp is on the top of my list now! So many options to choose from, I think I must extend my stay in Switzerland 😁

Regards,

Mario
