Hello all, my husband and I will be visiting mid September and are excited for all the Jungfrau region has to offer during the day…..however we are deciding which village to stay in as we like some options in the evening as well. we will not have a car and don’t want to travel by train if possible. since it isn’t ski season many places (shops, restaurants, nightlife} may be closed. we would like to be able to walk around and have restaurant choices and of course some drinks. We don’t need wild crazy , just some “life” we like to stroll and take in the culture. was thinking Grindwald. murren or Interlaken??which area will have the most places open in the evening ? we have never been to Switzerland so want to make the most of it. we are also trying to decide on the Swiss rail pass. we will be traveling from Lucerne and are going to Zurich as well. It seems many of the hotels offer free transportation

any suggestions would be great ! thanks

Hi Jsully, and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Grindelwald will be livelier than Wengen or Mürren, and is in a spectacular mountain setting. Interlaken will have more nightlife than Grindelwald, but the scenery can’t compare with Grindelwald. For the best of both worlds (nightlife and scenery), I would pick Grindelwald.

Generally speaking, the free transport offers from hotels are too limited to replace a Swiss Travel Pass, but it will depend very much on your itinerary. You really need to have a firm itinerary before you can tell what will be the best deal for you.
