I am travelling with my wife and 1 year kid from UK to Paris in Sep and then Paris to Zurich by train. I will be staying in Switzerland for 3 days. My itinerary is given below.

Day 1: Paris to Zurich by train. Zurich to Rhein Falls and back to Zurich by train.

Day 2: Zurich to Interlaken, Interlaken to Jungfraugh and back to Interlaken.

Day 3: Boat cruise in Interlaken and then Interlaken to Zurich Airport to catch my flight to London.

Could you please suggest should I use any paas like EuroRail global pass, Swiss pass etc or just use individual tickets?

Hello Himanshudba1 and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

A Eurail Global Pass may work for you.

You should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to the “Where it’s valid” tab for all available passes. Be sure to check that for each pass you are considering.

    Also have a look at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france.

Thanks for your reply. I tried to use global pass to reserve a seat in train from Paris to Zurich using en.oui.sncf website and used Pass Interrail-> Global Pass as Season Ticket but the website did not give any discount rather it gave me full fare.

    Hi Himandshudba1,

A Eurail Global Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/eu railglobalpass) might be worth it if you plan some more traveling in France than just the trips UK-Paris and Paris-Swiss border. If not, you might be better off getting regular tickets for those journeys; if you book early you might be able to find good deals. In that case you can look for the best option to cover the Swiss portion of your journey, which I suspect will be Swiss Half Fare Card: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard. But as Rockoyster correctly mentioned, you should start calculations to find out for sure.

As for your purchase at https://en.oui.sncf/en /tgv-lyria: are you trying to arrange for seat reservations only, assuming you’re holding a Eurail Global Pass? In that case there’s no price difference indeed, as it doesn’t matter which pass or ticket you hold: reservations will cost the same. It might be easier to use the Eurail site to arrange for your reservations, as you can clearly indicate that you’ll be having a Eurail Global Pass there and you won’t be charged for the journey, only for reservations. You can use this link: https://www.eurail.com /en/book-your-reservations-with-eurail.
