    Hi,

My daughter and I will be travelling to Switzerland mid June. We will be spending 1 1/2 days in Lucerne. We can’t decide between Mt Titlus or Mt Pilatus for the first day. The plan is to go to Mt Rigi on the half day. Any advice welcome.

Hello Theresa Bloc and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Nice to hear you’re coming along to Switzerland with your daughter.

My absolute favourite mountain around Lucerne in summer time is Mount Pilatus, because in summer you can do the Golden Roundtrip, including cable car, the world’s steepest cogwheel train and a boat on the lake – fantastic!!!

Mount Rigi is fairly similar to Mount Pilatus from a transport point-of-view but all together a different, much flatter and greener mountain.

HOWEVER, Mount Titlis is highter, and due to that has snow all year round, which will most probably NOT be the case on Mount Pilatus in June. You travel up and down Mount Titlis by cable car and find snow and a glacier at the top, so the decision will depend mainly on those two factors.

To add to the choice, you could also look into Mount Stanserhorn with an open-top cable car, located between Lucerne and Mount Titlis.

Happy collecting of inspiration and feel free to get back to us anytime for more input.

    Best,
    Steph

    Thanks Steph,

Think we’ll spend the day exploring Mt Pilatus. We are going up Klein Matterhorn, hoping there will be snow up there. We are coming from the southern tip of Africa, so touching snow for the first time is a must!

I could totally support that plan and give a full thumbs-up! From my side. It’s spectacular! 🙂

You will for sure have snow on the Klein Matterhorn by Zermatt, as anything above 3’000 meters can count on “eternal” snow and glaciers.
