    Hi Officeboyy,

Yes, the Swiss Half Fare Card can be used on almost all routes in Switzerland.

Click the “where it’s valid” tab on our Swiss Half Fare Card page to see a map of valid routes: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard

    Hi Lucas,

I looked at the map for valid train routes. I don’t see a valid route for Swiss Half Fare Card to travel from Zurich Airport to Wengen and a return to Zurich Airport in 8 days. Am I missing something? Do I have to buy a Swiss Travel card instead, which is much more expensive?

The map shows train routes in red, bus routes in yellow and cable cars in black.

All routes shown, whether solid or dotted, are 50% off with the Swiss Half Fare Card (be sure to read the legend on the side of the map). You can see the route from Zurich Airport to Wengen is then 50% off if you have the Swiss Half Fare Card (essentially all trips in Switzerland are 50% off with the SHFC).

The Swiss Travel Pass is more expensive (and valid for different # of days: 3, 4, 8 or 15) but as you can see on the legend fully covers the route to Wengen (100% coverage on solid lines).

In order to know which Swiss rail pass will save you the most money you’ll need to first decide on your day to day itinerary and then find ticket prices and compare those to rail pass discounts (some trips are fully covered and others partially covered). Read though our instructional page on how to find the best rail pass for your itinerary here: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass (we even have a spreadsheet there to help with the math).

    Hi Lucas,

Thanks for the Half Fare card information. Good idea for travel between Zurich Airport and Wengen. Do you think it is a good idea for us to get a Jungfrau Travel Pass for the region while in Wengen instead of buying individual passes for visits to each village and back to Wengen? We can use the Half Fare Card, too.

    Take care.

Buying both passes sometimes is a good idea – it depends on the trips you will be making each day during your visit to Switzerland though.

Doing the math on the link above will help you compare different options and find out which pass(es) save you the most money on your specific itinerary.
