Day 1: Fly into Zurich. Travel directly to Ghiffa in Italy

    Day 3: Travel to Geneva

    Day 5: Travel to Sigriswil

    Stay in Sigriswil

Day 11: Take Jungfrau Railway to the top

Day 12: Travel Grindwald to Zurich

Day 13: Fly out of Zurich

I am struggling between the choice of a flexi 4 day pass and a 50% pass. This is partly because I don’t know how much of my travel into Italy is covered?

It is also unclear the best way to travel from Ghiffa in Italy to Geneva and whether I would be able to make use of the Flexi pass.

Any help in deciding would be of great assistance. Thank you

Hi locklock and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I believe the closest train station to Ghiffa is Verbania-Pallanza (you may have to take a taxi there but it isn’t too far).
From there you can train to Geneva with 1 change in Domodossola (about a 4 hour trip). You can check all train schedules with the timetable here.

All Swiss rail passes are valid within Switzerland only (but Domodossola is the exception so you only need a ticket to there, the rest of the trip would be covered or discounted by a Swiss rail pass).

The only way to know for sure what the best pass for you is, will be to do the math – visit our page here for help.

If you think you will be using the train or bus or boat while in Sigriswil you may want to buy the Swiss Half Fare Card (it is valid for 30 days).

Thanks for the tips. It looks like the half fare card would make my trip cost 390CHF while the flexi pass would cost 467CHF

Do I have this right? I will not use public transport while in Sigriswil.

    ZÜRICH FLUGHAFEN – DOMODOSSOLA – 101CHF

    DOMODOSSOLA – GENEVE – 72CHF

    GENEVE – SIGRISWIL, DORF – 67CHF

    SIGRISWIL, DORF – GRINDELWALD GRUND – 28.6CHF

    GRINDELWALD GRUND – JUNGFRAUJOCH return – 182CHF

    GRINDELWALD GRUND – ZÜRICH HB – 84.4CHF

ZÜRICH HB – ZÜRICH FLUGHAFEN BAHNHOF – 7CHF

    Total: 542CHF

    With 50% discount:391CHF

    With flexi pass (298CHF):

    JUNGFRAUJOCH – 190 with 25% = 142.5

    298+142 = 440CHF

plus SIGRISWIL, DORF – GRINDELWALD GRUND at full price – 28.6CHF = 466.6CHF

I think your “50%” discount price of 391 isn’t correct? it should be 50% of 542? as 271?

Either way yes, the Swiss Half Fare Cards does look like the better deal.

right. i made the leap to 50% of 542 plus the cost of the half fare card, 120.
