    Hi all.

I intend on hiking the Walker’s Haute Route when lockdown finish and due to not knowing how fast I will want to hike, I are considering not booking accommodation in advance at the mountain huts.

I am aware wild camping is frowned upon along these walker’s routes in the Alps, my question is has anyone successfully stealth-camped off trail on this route or a similar route such as the Tour de Mont Blanc. I am well-versed in LNT ethics and am more concerned with locals giving me a hard time or getting slapped with fines.

Hello Bitmanalex and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Nice to hear you’re planning some hiking in Switzerland after the crazy times! It’s important to hold on to something…

As for your question, please make sure to read below link and also the “Swiss Alpine Club” link on that page for detailed information. Generally, wild camping is allowed above the tree line in NON conservation areas but it’s recommendable to check with local authorities.
