Hello, I want to take Golden Pass route from Lucerne to Montreux this September.

Unfortunately I read that the most picturesque part (Zweisinmen to Montreux) is currently under renovation so I am not sure whether it is worth it versus regular trains. In addition I would like to know if it is possible to stay in Interlaken for a couple of hours, continue the trip afterwards and still reach the final destination at the end of the day. I am not sure about the exact dates so I might be planning to buy the tickets while in Lucerne: where could I do this and how long in advance?

    Regards, Sonia

    Hi Sonia,

The Golden Pass train from Zweisimmen to Montreux is operating as usual. Any impact from ongoing construction work will be reflected on the timetable and the disruption is usually very minimal.

The Golden Pass route from Lucerne to Montreux is explained in detail here: http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/gettingthere. You can get on and get off at any stations in between as long as you have a valid ticket or railpass. Seat reservations are not necessary. If you have a railpass such as the Swiss Travel Pass, there is no need to get additional tickets to ride the Golden Pass. You can find more information here: http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/tickets

    Regards,

    Anna
