Congratulations for your interest for Haute Route!
If you want 1:25000, you need 4 maps: 1326 Rosablanche, 1327 Evolène, 1346 Chanrion, and 1347 Matterhorn.
You could also consider the snow sports map 1:50000, you would need only one sheet, 283S Arolla: http://www.swisstopo.admin.ch/content/swisstopo-internet/fr/home/products/maps/leisure/ski_tour_maps/_jcr_content/contentPar/tabs_copy_copy_copy/items/links/tabPar/downloadlist/downloadItems/747_1466427518047.download/bluebS50.pdf
msuroseyParticipant3 posts7 December 2019 at 23:03:50 #926131Thank you to both Anna and Snowman. I think I will procure 1:25000 maps as the 1:50000 maps are too much for my old eyes. msurosey
SlowpokeParticipant7567 posts8 December 2019 at 1:04:20 #926132Although most Wanderkarte with marked trails are 1:50,000, thee are some newer ones at 1:3,300.

SnowmanParticipant825 posts8 December 2019 at 9:53:18 #926133Hi Slowpoke,
You mean 1:33,333, i.e. somewhere between 1:25,000 and 1:50,000.
As msurosey, I prefer 1:25,000, and for the same reason. The advantage of the Snow Sports Map is that trails are highlighted, a larger area is on one map, and it is printed on syntosil, a paper that is unsensitive to water.

This is the main page of the hiking section of Switzerland Mobility::
http://www.schweizmobil.ch/en/wanderland/wanderland.html
Select National Routes.
and, under National Routes, select Alpine Passes Trail (#6):
http://www.schweizmobil.ch/en/wanderland/routes/national-routes.html
thus:

Scroll down and check stages 19 through 21.

Thanks for catching my mistake. ;-(
I also prefer the 1:25,000 for hiking in difficult terrain.
I am not sure, but I believe that the maps shown on Switzerland Mobility ( see my recent post) may be even more detailed. I can’t find a scale marker, but I recall that they may go to 1:10,000. Perhaps you know if I am correct?
However, there may be some benefit in having a “Wanderkarte” with the hiking trails marked in red, so I merely wanted to point out that they are not confined to 1:50,000 as they were for many years. I find the Wanderkarten useful for planning, if not for hiking, except in easy terrain.
I agree that a map on weatherproof “paper” is a useful advantage.
