Hi. I would like to visit either Zermatt or Chamonix from Montreux next November! Which is easier to get to and which would be more accessible and scenic? We will have a Swiss Travel pass.Thank you in advance.

Both towns are easily accessible by train from Montreux (2 – 2.5 hours). See the Swiss railways timetable for more details http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.

Both routes there are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass even though Chamonix is in France (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity).

However once at Chamonix your Swiss Travel Pass doesn’t offer any discounts. If you go to Zermatt (http://www.myswissalps.com/ze rmatt) you get discounts to the mountains there for best views of the Matterhorn (Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn).

Klein Matterhorn usually closes for a few weeks in November, but Gornergrat runs year-round. Do note that November is the off-season in Switzerland and many mountains close for a week or 2 for maintenance work. http://www.myswissalps.com/be sttimetovisit

As Chamonix is in France we don’t have any specific details on the mountain and area.

Thanks. I will do more research! I Probly will decide when I get there depending on the weather.
