Hi..

we are going Switzerland 9th- 14th June for 5 nights. Plan to stay 1 night Zurich. Where would be a convenient hotel to stay for 1 night to see Zurich attractions? With just 1 day what are the possible attraction we can see?

Another thought is to travel to Lucerne straight from airport and stay 3 nights. Where would be a good place to stay? Hope to cover mount titlis and transport museum and city tour like chapel bridge and old town.

Lastly in Lauterbrunen or Wengen to cover Jungfrau. Nice place to stay and easy to travel to jungfrau? Would like to stay in Mountain for 1 night with nice view. Possible to suggest?

Lastly travel to Paris by TGV.

Thank you.

Hi Devi29,

Thanks for your post! With just 5 nights in total I would skip Zurich and stay in Lucerne. Please let us know your decision before we look into hotels.

For the best views I'd recommend Wengen as it's up in the mountains. Lauterbrunnen is wonderful too but down in the valley.

Please include budget, number of travelers, exact dates per town (see here).

Hi Arno, sure will skip Zurich and stay 3 nights in Lucerne (9th-12th june) and 2 nights in Wengen (12th-14th june). Budget 3000 CHF. Not sure this budget is ok. Please advice. 2 adults and 2 kids aged 9 and 7 travelling. Thank you.

So you can spend CHF 600 per night on hotels, is that correct? Please verify and I'll look into some options.

Hi Devi29,

In Lucerne there's the well rated 4-star Hotel des Balance in between the river and a square in the historical old town. They have junior suites with a river view. It's at walking distance from the rail station.

For Wengen, you can take a look at Hotel Silberhorn. It's a 4-star hotel right across the rail station. They have quadruple rooms with a balcony and view on the Jungfrau. Alternatively there's the Beausite Park Hotel, 4-stars as well. It's a bit further from the rail station, at a quieter location, about 20 minutes on foot (up hill). They have various family rooms.

Thank you Arno. Will have a look at it and book. Hotel room are almost booked and full everywhere.. I'm too stressed planning this trip. Can I ask how I would travel to Paris from wengen? Or should we stay 1 night in Lausanne or Geneva ? I heard train from there is direct to Paris at send easier. Could you advise?

Hi Devi29,

The suggested hotels are still available as I checked if they would fit your budget on your dates.

For Paris to Wengen you usually take the TGV Lyria train to Basel. From Basel, all trains are free if you have a Swiss Travel Pass. Please see the timetable for details and this page for tips on how to book the train from Paris. For further questions about this, please post to the Rail forum.

You're right, sorry about that. But my post is still accurate, you'll just travel in the other direction.

I have stayed at Hotel Silberhorn in Lauterbrunnen 3 times and it is excellent for getting to the train station, 300-350 meters, no train noise at all.. Rooms will view of falls at night should be requested.

I have not seen Hotel Belvedere nor have I stayed in Wengen. This photo is descending from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen Valley floor with the Staubbach falls.
