Hi,

We (family of 5 adults + one 3yo kid) will be landing at zurich airport in the early morning. Will be travelling by car, picking up car rental from zurich airport.

Before heading to lucern in the evening, would like to explore zurich old town. May i know where is the most strategic and safe parking spot? What is the average parking cost? Estimate to spend around 4-5 hours in the city center.

Should we park at the nearby P+R and ride to old town?

I would say that the easiest way to visit Zurich is by public transportation. The Airport is only 10-12 mins away by train according to the timetable. (You can store your luggage at the train station.)

The average parking cost is around 4 CHF per hour in the centre. At http://www.parkingzuerich.ch/ you can search for parking options.

Hi,

does it mean that it is more convenient and cost effective for us to:

– lock luggage at airport train station

– take train from airport to / fro zurich

– pick up rental car from airport upon return from zurich

Cost-effectively, it depends on the rail pass you have (if you have any, I do not know.) It also depends on the number and size of the luggage.

Regarding the time, probably, if you drive into Zurich directly, it would be faster.

may i know which is the best parking garage or house if we wish to visit old town and Bahnhofstrasse?
