    Hi there

We are planning to fly to Zurich on 3 March 2016. Will then stay in the city for 3 nights, and then get train to Leuk. Then staying with friends and then get train back from Leuk direct to Zurich airport.

Swiss transfer ticket looks our best bet. Does this mean we will:

    • need to make our own way from airport to Zurich city
    • then use the transfer ticket to get from Zurich HB to Leuk
    • then use the transfer ticket to get back from Leuk to Zurich airport? Or do we have to get off at Zurich HB?

    Many thnaks.

    Paul

    Hello Paul!

For the journey Zurich-Leuk-Zurich, the Swiss Transfer Ticket is a good option indeed. You can use it to get back to Zurich Airport, as the start and end point don’t have to be the same. It’s explained here. You can buy the Swiss Transfer Ticket as an e-ticket through http://www.swissrailways.com.

You need regular tickets for Zurich Airport-Zurich and for the first few days in Zurich. A ZurichCard may save money, depending on your plans.

    Many thanks.

Is there no free public transport for hotel guests in Zurich (as there is in Basel and Geneva)?

    Hello Paul,

No, as far as we know, there isn’t. Combined hotel and travel offers differ per city. The leg Zurich Airport-Zurich is short and cheap though, and your further travel plans in and near Zurich could well be covered by the ZurichCard (or regular day tickets if you don’t the extras like museums included in the ZurichCard).
