Hi Robert,
You can plan your trip using the online timetable. You can fill out your departure station (e.g. Zurich or Zürich Airport) and your destination (e.g. Luzern). The timetable will then give several options. Seat reservations are not necessary within Switzerland, but it is obligatory in most international trains (i.e. the one from Switzerland to Stresa, Italy).
For Mürren, fill out 'Mürren BLM'. This stands for 'Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen Mürren'. The last part of your journey, from Lauterbrunnen onwards, you will first have to take a short cable car ride up to Grütschalp and then change to a connecting train to Mürren. An alternative is to travel by bus from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg. From Stechelberg a cable car leaves for Mürren as well. This is a relatively short, but spectacularly steep and beautiful ride with wonderful views of the Lauterbrunnen valley. If you want to plan the Stechelberg route, fill out Stechelberg as your destination and plan the last part of the route using the timetable of the cable car between Stechelberg and Mürren.
The online timetable also allows you to calculate what your trips will cost. The total costs for the trip Zurich Airport-Luzern-Grütschalp-Mürren are CHF 68.20. The costs for the Swiss part (Mürren-Domodossola) of your outbound journey to Stresa are CHF 68.20 as well, so the total costs for the routes you describe are CHF 136.40. If you also plan to make trips during your stay in Mürren, it's probably most cost effective to purchase a Swiss Half Fare Card, which costs CHF 99.00 and offers a 50% discount on almost all trips (in your case: the trip Zurich-Luzern-Mürren, the trip Mürren-Domodossola and the trips during your stay in Mürren).
If you clearly have in mind what trips you want to make while staying in Mürren, you can calculate which pass is best by following the instructions in our rail FAQ.
