Hello, I will be travelling from Zurich to Murren on 4 Jan 2020 returning 11 Jan 2020 but I can’t seem to find fares and times at the moment. Could you please direct me to the best place for this.

    Hi SimonT,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! The times will soon be available via the timetables at http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable. The new annual timetable starts mid December and will soon be loaded into all timetable applications. For now you can simply enter a date before mid December to get an idea about travel times. For prices, please see either the same timetable but also here for cheaper options than the standard tickets:

By far the best way to check timetables, find fares* and buy tickets on-line if required is using the SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi). In the unlikely event you don’t have a device capable of running the app then you can use the timetable on the SBB website (bit.ly/2HH1U7B). If you are not familiar with using the timetable it will pay to first read the instructions on this page – http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.

    * The SBB website shows half-fare prices by default, the mobile app allows you to nominate whether to show full or half-fares (by editing the passenger details in settings) and is also smart enough to offer you the Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass) if that offers the best fare. The app also show a platform map (at least at the larger stations) to help you make conections.

For January you’ll have to wait for the new timetable as Arno points out but timings don’t change dramatically year to year.

Thanks for this. The app is great.

looking at prices for 4 of us it’s about chf 360 each way for a weeks skiing. Which seems very high.

any tips on how to reduce that?

    Hi SimonT,

A regular full-fare ticket Zurich Airport-Mürren costs CHF 92,80 per person in 2nd class, which is CHF 185,60 for a round trip per person. Don’t worry though, there are several rail passes you can profit from. Which one’s best, depends on all details of your itinerary. For example, will you be making any day trips while you’re in Mürren? Do you plan on using public transportation there, other than ski lifts? Please find explanation on picking the best rail pass at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses. Here some options to consider:

There used to be a Swiss Transfer Ticket designed to cover your plans but it was discontinued at the end of last year. The Saver Day Pass mentioned by Annika made it redundant.
