Thun and Spiez make great base towns to explore the Lake Thun region. Both towns have shopping facilities and restaurants, but Thun is considerably larger.
Hotels near the lake can also be found in Faulensee, Gunten and many other smaller villages. A hotel in Beatenberg is a great option if you want to have panoramic views of the Bernese Oberland. Beatenberg sits on a plateau high above the lake and can be reached from Interlaken.
Interlaken is another option to look for hotels. It is close to the lake, but not directly at the lake.
