I just bought a 4 day SwissPass and have a free place to stay in Klosters. Can anyone suggest any good day trips we could do out of Klosters. I did reserve on the BEX for one day Filisur-Turano RT. Any other suggestions? Lichtenstein? One of my companions can’t hike very far. We are into cable car rides to beautiful views but what to choose? Help would be great.–kim

    Hi Kim,

    >> I just bought a 4 day SwissPass and have a free place to stay in Klosters.

You may already know that the mountain transport in Davos and Klosters is not covered with your Swiss Travel Pass. Local mountain transport is free in summer with a guest card, but if you aren’t staying in commercial accommodation (and paying the tourist tax) you won’t get the guest card.

    Hi Treblemakerm

A lovely trip, and very close to Davos, is to take the little local train up the valley from Davos Platz to Filisur (an hourly service). I think you plan this anyway? If you get off at Davos Wiesen station you can a) have a nice coffee, cake, ice cream or beer at the little station outdoor café – with its menu blackboard plastered with tempting offers written in the local dialect, and b) go for a short signposted walk to view the spectacular Wiesen viaduct that springs from almost the platform end. Walk back 200 metres or so in the Davos direction to cross the railway, and at the other side turn right. If you keep straight on the path takes you onto the viaduct walkway – you need a good head for heights! If you bear left instead onto the downhill path, you soon come underneath the viaduct. My attachments show the station and the viaduct from below.

Filisur is a lovely spot – the station is a junction that is always buzzing with trains. It sits high above the village. In May and June the footpath down to the village skirts an amazing array of wild flowers – about the best I saw in Switzerland.
