The attached screen captures from the timetable linked in my message just before yours show the kind of information you can get from the Swiss Rail Timetables
AnnikaModerator7104 posts6 July 2015 at 10:34:02 #843914Hi skalim27!
The timetable show the quickest connections by default. Between Zermatt and Interlaken you’d normally travel via the tunnel connecting Brig on the southern side and Spiez on the northern side of the mountain range. However, if you don’t mind a longer journey and prefer scenic views, the regional Lötschberger train, that winds its way through the mountains, is a nice alternative. Enter ‘Goppenstein’ as a via-station to get details on this route.

I really like the Lötschberger.
Just rode it from Bern to Brig and return in mid June, and the scenery was a nice as ever.

I like to walk the trail that parallels the train route, too.

Then you get a really good look at the railroad engineering, as well as some other great sights.

Thun is the final destination of that train but you can get off in Spiez and change for Interlaken. All details are in the timetable link Annika provided.

SlowpokeParticipant7567 posts11 July 2015 at 19:35:05 #843922Catch it at Brig – see attached screen captures.
At Spiez, as noted earlier, change for Interlaken.
If youwish to go further into the Lauterbrunnen Valley, get off at InterlakenOst, where you can catch trains to Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Wengen,Kleine Scheidegg, etc.

I really enjoy reading your reply and appreciate your enthusiasm to assist by adding the attachment. We will travel on Sept 3, from Interlaken to Zermatt. We hope to ride the Lötschberger to enjoy the scenery. We also wish to go either Matterhorn Glacier Paradise or Gornergrat train/visitlake Riffelsee after arrival Zermatt. Is it doable in a day? Pls. advise on the schedule and train connection from Interlaken to Zermatt.

Please use the timetable.
AnnikaModerator7104 posts12 July 2015 at 10:16:04 #843925Hi JP!
The Lötschberger route has been discussed in this topic. Along with the timetable, you should be able to find appropriate connections. Visiting the Gornergrat and the Riffelsee as a day trip from Interlaken can be done, if you leave early. Please check the Gornergrat page for more information. You may also be interested in the hike Rotenboden-Riffelsee.
