    Hi

This is Pranav from Mumbai, India and have planned our first family summer holiday’s to Paris and Switzerland. I’m travelling with my Wife and Daughter (8 years old).

We are leaving for Paris on 27.05.2018 and would reach Paris on 27.05.2018 at around 19.30.

Our return flight is from Zurich on 06.06.2018 at around 21.30.

We will be in Paris till 31st May and on 31.05.2018 will come to Switzerland – Basel by train.

I want help in planning my Switzerland itinerary, from 31.05.2018 to 06.06.2018.

I would like to explore the best of Switzerland in the given time.

I request you to plan the best possible itinerary for our trip.

Hi zatakiap78 and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Sorry but we don’t create itineraries for people. We just provide as much information as possible to help people make informed decisions about how to plan what would best meet their own specific goals. It all depends if you want to spend time in the mountains, in the cities, on scenic rail trips or a mixture of all of those things.

Some people like to move around a lot others like to go for one or two base locations with day trips from there. For a short visit such as your I would say the Jungfrau Region (http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrauregion) and Lucerne (http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne) would be the most popular destinations.

Have a look at those links or start off here http://www.myswissalps.com/pl antrip and see how you go.

Use the Swiss Train Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to plan your travel. Be sure to read the instructions on that page before delving into the timetable. “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass) is also worth studying.

Once you have a rough itinerary there will be plenty of people happy to help you refine it.

    Thank You For Your Reply.

As you said – ” It all depends if you want to spend time in the mountains, in the cities, on scenic rail trips or a mixture of all of those things. “

We plan to stay centrally – Need help here to select our base stay place. Luzern, Interlaken or Grindelwald, Wengen.

I plan to take day trips to Geneva, Zurich, Mt. Jungfrau, Mt. Titles, Mt Rigi or Mt. Pilatus.

I also want to cover Zermatt.

If I get help in selecting one or two base places for my stay so that I can cover all the places of interest it would be great.

On 31.05.2018, I will reach Basil at around 16.00 from Paris by train so if you could suggest me the first or the place where I can stay and conviently travel to other places.

I will be taking 8 days Swiss Travel Pass.

I would go straight through to Lucerne and stay there while you cover Mt. Titlis, Mt Rigi or Mt. Pilatus.

Then move to Interlaken or Grindelwald, Wengen for the rest of your stay. Wengen is a favourite of many participants on this forum. You can return to Zurich on the day of your flight and still have enough time to have a look around the city. Many people who fly out of Zurich visit the Rhine Falls on their last day if they have a later departure time. From Wengen you are close to Jungfraujoch and can make day trips to Zermatt and Geneva but they will be long train days.

With the Swiss Travel Pass you get 50% discount on Titlis and Pilatus and 25% on Jungfraujoch beyond Wengen or Grindelwald.

    Hope that helps.

Day 4: 03.06.18 – Leave Luzern and reach Grindelwald / Wengen and explore it on the same day.

Day 6 you could take Golden Pass to Montreux. Geneva is no big deal. Then continue to Zermatt for overnight stay. Day 7 Gornergrat to get close to Matterhorn then train back to Zurich.

Another variation, there are an infinite number of variations in Switzerland, is to skip Gornergrat and catch Glacier Express from Zermatt to Chur an then connection to Zurich.

    For my Golden Pass Query:

I will be travelling from Luzern to Interlaken – How about just this part of travel on Golden Pass is it advisable?

    Hi zazakiap78,

We consider the leg Zweisimmen to Montreux as the best part, however, all legs are worth your time. Have you read our page with the Golden Pass line details already?

You can do that as well with an overnight in Zermatt. Catch the Glacier Express from Zermatt to Chur an then the connection to Lucerne.

Interlaken to Montreux via Zweisimmen then on to Geneva. Then let the Swiss Train Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) show you the most direct route back to Interlaken. Just search Geneva to Interlaken (or Wengen/Grindelwald).

Sure it can be done in 1 day. When you start and finish depends on your stamina.

The SBB Timetable will give you travel times.

Then depends on how much time you want to spend in Montreux (http://www.myswissalps.com/mo ntreux/activities) and Geneva (http://www.myswissalps.com/ge neva/activities).

    Hi Pranav,

    Looks like a good plan.

You could even probably squeeze in a trip to Rhine Falls (http://www.myswissalps.com/rh inefalls) on your last day if you wanted to. You could leave luggage in lockers at Zurich Station.

Thank You So Much For Your Reply And Suggestions.

We will be carrying 2 Cabin Bags and 28″ Bags.

Are the lockers big enough to accommodate these bags.

Is there any other alternative as my bags will not fit in this lockers and I plan to do Rhine falls on last day.

And since I will be coming from Luzern will also have luggage to adjust as I also want to do Zurich city tour on that day.
