Hi Hudspith –
<<“Would it be relatively easy to walk ……. again would a taxi be easier?”>>
Relative(ly) to what? 😉
It is a level walk of just over 1 km. if your suitcase has wheels, it is not a difficult walk.
A taxi is, of course, easier. Taxis in Switzerland are not cheap. I took one from a hotel near the Stiftkirche ( partway along your route) many years ago because I had heavy bags. I recall 10-15 CHF.
E-mail your hotel or telephone. The Palace is probably the best hotel in Luzern, and they will be pleased to help you understand the options. I would not expect a pick up, but they just might offer.
The best meal I ever had in Luzern, and one of the best in Switzerland was at restaurant Mignonette in the Palace. I could not afford it… a friend was buying.

There is bus service from the main station to a stop very nearby. The buses run eat intervals as little as 3 minutes; there are 12 per hour. The name of the stop is “Luzern, Casino-Palace.” The trip takes 14 to 15 minutes. Traffic can be heavy.
I have linked to an excellent map –
map.search.ch/PALACE-LUZERN,Luzern,Haldenst r.10?pos=666676,211700&z=25 6
and I have turned on the icons for bus stops. Click on the bus stop for a near term schedule

Thank you for your helpful information Slowpoke and the map link. Our case does have wheels so should be as easy walk – I just sometimes find it quicker using “foot power” 🙂

Glad to help.
Some parts of the walk along the lake shore are very nice. Sometimes I walk from the Bahnhof to the Verkehrshaus ( the transport museum), or vice versa.
The first attached picture was taken from along the lake shore. The other one gives a rather distant view of “Hotel Row” including the Palace.
if you spend some time with the map I linked, perhaps using the aerial view, you can probably figure out which one is the Palace.
