Chur? chur.graubuenden.ch/en
That’s just a guess. Do you have any other clues? Any idea what part of Switzerland it was taken in?
No idea. I stumbled across the photo in an old album of my parents. They were photos taken of our trip in 1952. I know we visited Bern, Grindlewald, Lake Geneva, Chateau Chillon. Thanks much for helping me.
Hi Gonoles,
It looks like Interlaken. I have an almost identical picture taken in 2015 🙂
It’s the view from the panorama restaurant at Heimwehfluh near the Interlaken West train station.

Well Done Anna. I thought Interlaken but the lack of any sign of water threw me. On closer inspection I see the IW docks in greyscale. 🤓
Nice picture BTW.
Your are correct, Anna! I found an almost identical photo on the web. The location makes complete sense, as I know we were in that area. Thank you!
Hi Gonoles,
Happy to help! It looks like nothing much has changed in Interlaken since 1952 🙂
Regards,
Anna

As far as the picture is concerned, yes.
But , in 1952 1 USD probably bought 4 or 5 CHF.
I can’t find a historical chart with data that far back with a quick internet search, but my Swiss friends mention numbers like that in those years.
Slowpoke
CHF4.3853 1 Jan 1953.
(tongue in cheek) And in fact, geopolitically, more than half the urban area shown in the picture is Unterseen, not Interlaken, and the photo is taken from territory which is officially Matten bei Interlaken
