    Hi all,

I’ve been in Switzerland for a few weeks for work and I’ve managed to see a lot of beautiful sights while I have been here! I have one more free day before I return, and I can’t make a decision about where to go. I think I would like some lake and mountain scenery to photograph, but I’m not sure about where would be the best destination. I’ve already done a trip up to Jungfraujoch, so I was wondering about getting the train to one of the places in Bernese Oberland. I thought about Interlaken as it would be easy to reach but I’m not sure whether it’s really a beautiful place to photograph. Does anyone have any tips on places to reach by train from Zurich which would make for good lake and mountain photos?

Thanks! The site has been very useful for planning my trips so far (I’ve seen Lucerne, the Rhine Falls, Jungfrau, and next week Bern!).

    Hi MGall

That’s a nice problem to have! There are so many places you could go to…

The best regions for you to go to would probably be as you say in the Bernese Oberland, there are quite a few suggestions which can be found here http://www.myswissalps.com/be rneseoberland

If you go on any of the lakes (Thun, Brienz etc.) then you will certainly be able to photograph both lakes and mountains.

You can also go to any of the mountain tops, from where you will be able to see lakes as well: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/naturalsites/ mountains

Schinigge Platte and Brienzer Rothorn (included in the link above) would be my recommendation, or the Kleine Scheidegg for views of the Jungfrau.

To plan connections and travel times, you can use the timetable: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

You should also check the weather forecast for any mountain top experiences in particular: http://www.myswissalps.com/we ather/forecast

Hope this helps in your decision! Others may have other suggestions.

    Maria.

    Maybe. Depends on your tastes.

    More lakes than mountains.

Apologies in advance if I am hijacking your thread but my question is on the same lines as your original post hence taking the liberty to post it here.

Those are beautiful pics slowpoke, but can we expect similar views in spring ?

My trip is coming up next week and I am little nervous that weather may not be as cooperative for photography as in other seasons ? I hope i am wrong.

    Hi Rohan,

Regarding the weather in April there is a saying in German that says; in April the weather simply does what it wants…BUT this can also mean early summer days and beautiful weather…so just be positive!

Just keep an eye on the local forecast and check for available webcams.

    Best,
    Steph
