Hi my wife and I are currently in Lucerne and the weather is a bit cloudy. We went to Pilatus today and there was not much of a view but the trip there was still nice. We were advised to avoid Rigi in cloudy weather especially due to the travel time there and back. Tomorrow’s forecast in Lucerne is cloudy/rainy as well – would you recommend any daytrips to any nearby towns with scenic views? Our hotel accommodations for tomorrow night are in Lucerne so we would have to come back in decent time.

    thank you!

    Hi jslyuan-

Check the detailed regional weather forecasts at Meteoschweiz, and then talk to the staff at the tourist information office next to track #1 in Luzern main station.

They are quite good at such recommendations…if there is a place with a halfway decent forecast, they’ll likely be able to point you to it.

By the way, remember that the weather comes in layers.

Attached are some photos taken from Rigi Kaltbad when it was very cloudy.

    Hi jslyuan,

If you have seen and done Luzern fully, including a boat trip on Lake LuzernI would look to Thun or Bern as nice towns to visit that aren’t too far away. The tourism office at Luzern train station as noted by Slowpoke is a great option as well to ask for more details.

    <<“Bern”>>

I like to walk down through the old town and past the bear pits, then up the hill on the left to the Rosegarden. Great views over the old city.
