    Hello,

Based on the spreadsheet provided in this website (Thank you, much appreciated), I have now prepared a comparison of the Swiss Travel Pass and Half Card. I see that Swiss Half Card works out cheaper for my Itinerary. Could someone please confirm this or am I missing some hidden costs?

    Thank you in advance

    Looks fine here!

What is your last line for? Titlis – Lucerne – Zurich.

Do you just mean Lucerne to Zurich?

    Hello Lucas,

Yes, The last line is Lucerne – Zurich.

In the calculation, I have considered Lucerne to Titlis as a return trip, so extra cost would be for lucerne -Zurich.

    Thank you.

I think the entire difference between a half Fare card and Swiss pass is the jungfrajoch. If a person doesn’t have jungfrajoch on his itinerary I guess most of the times the Swiss pass will be same as compared to the half fare card

The actual Jungfraujoch difference between STP and SHFC is about CHF35 more for STP so it’s not really a deal breaker. But it makes a difference in such a short stay.

Ok let’s do a comparison. Kindly check if the details are correct

If a person stays in wengen

    Stp fare 150 chf

Hfc fare 100 chf diff 50 chf

If you take a good morning ticket 8 30 departure and 13 13 return HFC fare is 85 chf so diff 65 chf

If a person stays in lauterbrunnen/ grindewald

    Stp fare 150

Hfc 112.8 diff is 37.2 chf

Good morning ticket fare with hfc 85 diff is 65 chf

    If person stays at Interlaken

    Stp 150 chf

    Hfc 117.4 diff 32.6 chf

Good morning ticket with hfc 95 chf

    Diff is 55 chf

So my advice to go early in the morning used the hfc and save 55 chf or more.

Pls feel free to correct me if I’m wrong

But you have to pay 120chf for the half-fare card in the first place, so isn’t the saving less than that?

Yes, often with a limited itinerary, focused on more expensive mountains, the cheaper Swiss Half Fare Card, works out best (especially when not going to mountains that are free with the Swiss Travel Pass. But again with every itinerary it is different. 🙂

Looks like you are all set Impactedmind – enjoy!

    Hello Impactedmind

What is the Good morning Ticket to Jungfraujoch? Is it cheaper than the normal ticket?

    Thanks

Yes you need to pay 120 chf for the hfc card but you need to pay 396 chf for the Swiss travel pass for 8 days too. And even after paying 396 you need to pay similar or even more for some of the expensive mountains that mostly a tourist wants to visit .

So the logic of hfc being less than the stp came up.

Plus if you have a hfc u can save more money by buying a super saver ticket as well.

For eg Lucerne to Geneva airport I bought for 16.5 chf one way using the half fare card and the super saver together .

Yes its 85 chf from lauterbrunnen and 95 chf from Interlaken round trip with hfc.

The condition is you need to take the 8 am or 8 30 am train from kleine scheidegg and take the return train of 1 13 pm or before that .

So you need to reach kleine scheidegg before 8 am wherever u staying .
