    Hi Pareshsoft –

Welcome to My Swiss Alps –

Please tell us what dates you will be traveling. It matters in the mountains.

You are very well organized. It is nice to see how well you have used the planning resources. 😉

First thoughts -Your arrival day seems quite busy, and jet lag might make it hard to manage all those transport details. Or might not…you are younger than I am and that makes a difference. I used to work in Meyrin and the walk you mention may be a bit long to fit into your schedule. Depends a lot on where you go, exactly.

    Hi Pareshsoft,

It seems that you copied your text from Excel or Word. Unfortunately that does not work. Tables and stuff like that will be converted to plain text. But you can edit your text after posting, and use bullets, paragraphs, etc. I fixed it up a little bit for you.

Please note that the Jet d'Eau shuts down around 4 PM in winter time.

    Hi Arno,

Thanks for edit. I copied it from the same notepad (text file) which I attached in previous post. I found it very tough to add bullets and my entire text vanished a couple of time. It could be just me – but it happened with me.

Thanks for the information on Jet d’Eau.

    1. Does cruises run on Lake Geneva in winter?
    2. Is visit to Nations worth the time? ( It seems we will can have only one – Jet or Palace. What do you suggest)?

    Thanks,

    Paresh.

    Hi Paresh,

    1. Yes, but on a limited schedule. The link under “More on other websites” on myswissalps.com/ boatlakegeneva takes you to the timetable.
    2. I’ve not been to the Palais des Nations so I can’t comment from personal experience. It’s something totally different from the fountain. It really depends on your interests what would be the best choice for you.

Information about snowshoeing along the Gornergrat railway can be found here: http://www.gornergratbahn.ch/ en/winter/snowshoeing/.

    Hi Paresh –

The jet d’eau is visible from all over the waterfront on both shores of the lake. You can get a good view on one of the water taxis (mouettes).

    http://www.geneva.info/lake-boats/

TheM2 and the M3 line both give good close views. A a part of the public transportation network, they should be covered by your Swiss Travel Pass, or Half-Fare card, if you choose that option.

    Presh-

I ‘m still trying to figure out your proposed itinerary, even after all the above posts. The *.pdf is helpful.

There is so much fine detail about Geneva transit that I become confused. I wonder if you will have the same problem, especially if you are recently arrived, possibly jet lagged,

You may well be able to do all that stuff , but, in no small part because of the formatting/detail level, I get confused and cannot advise. I suspect it is too much..but i’m not sure. Hope it works.

<<“1. Geneva (Feb 9)14:00 Reach.14:00 -15:00 Hotel Check in and freshen up.15:00 -15:45 Leave hotel for Nations. Reach Nations. Walk to Meyrin, Grand-Hangar. Bus 28. 16 Stops. Alight at Genève, Appia”>>

This confuses me. Where is your hotel- I thnk it is the Hotel Cornavin (good location for trains). Not sure about walk t0/from Meyrin…where in Meyrin? Don’t recognize “Grand Hangar.” What is “Nations.”

That could surely be my ignorance, although I have spent many weeks in Geneva and Meyrin.

However, if you find all that in the published schedules, it will surely happen.

<<“19:15 – 20:15 Dinner boat cruise. (Does it run in winter and is this time correct?”>> Seems like a short time for a dinner cruise. \

    <<“Lucerene (12 Feb)”>>

The name of the city is Lucerne, Lucern, or Luzern. Mostly, you will see the German version – Luzern

    <<“14:30 – 17:30 Come to Lucrene from Chur”>>.

This does not match the schedules that I see in the SBB timetable:

    http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

    I see – 1416-1625, or, 1439-1639, or 1516-1725.

That makes me suspect that you are getting your schedule data from some other source. Possibly from a different seasonal schedule…? if yu are not using it, please use the SBB timetable.

    http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

<<“Full day at mount titlis – rotating gondola, titlis cliff walk, glacier cave, snowtubing”>>

Sounds like fun. Will the cliff walk happen in February, with snow and ice all around?

    Just some thoughts.
